What Did Students Do?
This Week in Grade 5 Science: Exploring Space
This week, students continued their learning in space science, exploring several fascinating features of our solar system. We learned about moons and their roles, investigated the patterns of moon phases, and discussed the characteristics that define dwarf planets.
Students also expanded their understanding of key regions in space, including the asteroid belt and the Kuiper belt, examining how these areas help scientists better understand the structure and history of our solar system.
To creatively connect with our learning, students began creating chalk artwork inspired by space. This project is currently a work in progress, and students are applying new artistic techniques as they develop their pieces. Along the way, they explored concepts such as light and shadow, the colour wheel, and value, helping them create depth and visual impact in their work.
It has been an exciting week of combining science knowledge with artistic expression!
