Learning Outcomes

Students connect puberty to the capacity for human reproduction.

What Did Students Do?

This Week in Grade 5 Wellness: Understanding Puberty and Growth

This week, students explored the outcome:
Students connect puberty to the capacity for human reproduction.

As part of this learning, students were introduced to the human reproductive systems, including the scientific names for body parts. Our focus was on building accurate understanding in a respectful, age-appropriate, and supportive environment.

Through class discussions and learning activities, we worked to normalize the changes that occur during puberty, helping students understand that these changes are a natural and important part of growing up. Students had opportunities to ask questions and deepen their understanding in a safe and respectful space.

We also discussed the importance of having trusted adults they can go to for support and guidance during this stage of their lives. This helped reinforce that students are not alone in their experiences and that there are people they can turn to with questions or concerns.

It was a thoughtful and important week of learning, focused on building knowledge, confidence, and a positive understanding of growth and development.
